Our crocuses are out in force, the clumps of purple spreading through the yard, alternating with the occasional yellow or white bloom, though these seem more rare and delicate. My favorite is the light lavender blossom with purple stripes and gold pistils. Daffodils threaten to burst out and forsythia has already blossomed a week past. Yet it remains cold, wintry cold, but the early bloomers seem indifferent to air temperature; apparently their clocks are set by the position of the sun.
Yesterday we enjoyed our first afternoon on the deck, snacking on popcorn in the sunshine and enjoying the fresh air after months of being cooped up inside.
